Over 50 Years of Christ-Centered Education

Since 1973, Waterloo Christian School has had a profound impact on students and families of the Cedar Valley. Now as much as ever, we strive to help students to be firmly rooted in God’s truth and committed to the advancement of His Kingdom, no matter where their education leads them. We take seriously the call to train up the next generation so that they may be equipped for the good works that God has prepared for them to do. Looking back at the 50 years of ministry, we are amazed and humbled at the work we have witnessed the Lord do, and look forward with excitement to the years to come!

Our story

A brief overview of God’s faithfulness for over 50 years

A step of faith in the Cedar Valley

In 1973, amidst a backdrop of national turbulence and change, a small, united group of believers in the Cedar Valley took a bold step of faith. Their vision was clear: to establish a school where Christ’s teachings would reign paramount and where students could develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This was the birth of Waterloo Christian School, then known as Walnut Ridge Baptist Academy.

The founding vision

The founders of our school were motivated by a desire to provide an education rooted in the truth of God’s Word. Inspired by the words of Martin Luther, they sought to create a place where the Scriptures would be the foundation of all learning and where the greatest objective was for students to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Growth and expansion

By the second year, enrollment had surged to over 80 students, and by the third year, the school expanded to serve grades Kindergarten through 12th. This growth was a testament to the community’s support and the need for a Christ-centered educational institution in the Cedar Valley.

a Legacy of faith

Over the past 50 years, Waterloo Christian School has been a story of continued steps of faith. We are committed to remaining true to our founding vision while also adapting to meet the needs of our growing community. We are excited about the opportunities ahead and are confident that, with God’s help, we will see His blessing upon our school and His provision for all our needs.
